About La Société pour les arts en milieux de santé (SAMS)

Founded in March 2009, the Société pour les arts en milieux de santé (SAMS) provides patients isolated from our arts community the experience of enjoying performance arts in their own health care setting. These patients, their families and health care professionals alike have been stimulated by these live performances.

Since October 2009 SAMS has presented almost 1000 artistic events in over 70 long-term health care facilities on the Island of Montreal and in and around Quebec City. For its 2011-2012 season, SAMS will present over 500 concerts in long term homes on the Island of Montreal and around Quebec City, and will also be developping a new program in partnership with the CHUM in Montreal.

The Société is based on the model of Health Arts Society (HAS), founded in 2006 in British-Columbia by David Lemon. Health Arts Society will bring its expertise and specially designed tools to assist its sister society.
